We aim to reach 500,000 vulnerable people with multi-purpose cash assistance, in-kind humanitarian support, and protection services across four countries. Almost all of our impact will be delivered in partnership: with Ukrainian, Polish, Romanian and Moldovan civil society organizations through a granting program that matches humanitarian action with capacity strengthening, and with peer international NGOs through a consortium in Ukraine. Mercy Corps is responding to the Ukraine crisis with large-scale consortium programming with a focus on Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA). The Consortium is a partnership between four international humanitarian aid agencies to model and deliver innovative, effective cash and other humanitarian assistance programs to support people affected by the Ukraine crisis within Ukraine. The Operations Department provides key support to the entire country program in procurement, asset management, warehouse management, fleet management and facilities & office management for successful program implementation.General Position Summary:
The accountant of the organization belongs to the professional group "Professionals”.
Appointment to the position of accountant and dismissal from it is carried out by order of the Head of the Organization upon submission of the chief accountant in compliance with the requirements of the Labor Code of Ukraine.
Ensures accounting, adhering to the unified methodological principles established by the Law of Ukraine "On Accounting and Financial Reporting in Ukraine", considering the specifics of the organization's activities and the technology for processing accounting data.
Ensures complete and reliable reflection of the information contained in the primary documents accepted for accounting in the accounting accounts.
In agreement with the Head of the Organization, submits documents to the chief accountant for the transfer of funds in accordance with the specified taxes and payments, as well as for settlements with other creditors in accordance with contractual obligations.
Participate in the inventory of assets and liabilities, the preparation of materials related to shortages and compensation for losses due to shortages, theft and damage to the organization's assets.
Prepares data for inclusion in financial reporting, prepares its individual forms, as well as forms of other periodic reporting based on accounting data.
Ensures the preparation of processed documents, registers and reports for their storage for the established period.
Participates in the preparation of proposals for:
making changes to the selected accounting policy, improving internal (management) accounting and document flow rules.
developing an additional system of accounts and registers for analytical accounting, reporting and controlling business transactions.
ensuring the preservation of property, rational and effective use of material, labor and financial resources, attracting loans and their repayment, regulating the activities of the organization and other issues related to information on the financial position of the organization and the results of its activities.
Constantly familiarizes himself with and studies new regulatory, methodological and reference documents on the organization and maintenance of accounting and makes proposals for their implementation in the Organization.
Performs individual official assignments of his immediate supervisor.
Accountant of the organization: complete higher education with a master's degree, specialist's degree, secondary specialized education, professional specialization "Accounting and Audit", "Entrepreneurship Economics". No requirements for work experience.
Success Factors:The ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel is required. A demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and process information in support of changing program activities is necessary. A high professional standard of finance and procurement ethics as well as the willingness and ability to enforce compliance with Mercy Corps and donor policies and procedures is essential.
